It WILL be cold

Up in the snow I assure you that it will be cold.  Thick clothing is a necessity in a cold climate, waterproof clothing is also needed if it is snowing.  Bring a ground mat to put your sleeping bag on so the cold ground wont freeze you...different winter shelters will be talked about at later meetings.

Tents...

Tents provide a windbreaker in the cold climate...when bunking with one or more people it creates much more body heat (this is considered a good thing).  If your son cannot obtain a tent or a tent buddy, talk to Val DeCot of Alex DeCot.

Good Hygiene

Keeping yourself clean is a very important part of camping and/or survival.  Brushing and washing regularly is part of good hygiene as well as having a change of clothes for every other day.
